In The Flesh Live - Album Trivia
- The normal version of 'Perfect Sense' found on Amused to Death begins with thunder and a rather obvious backwards message. During the tour, it begins with a sound bite from Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey". It has been widely circulated that Waters wanted to use this sound bite in the album, but was refused permission by Kubrick.
- During 'Every Stranger's Eyes' Waters is thought to have lip-synched to a dubbed version of the original recording for the verse starting "And now, from where I stand...".
- It is thought that Waters ended up playing Each Small Candle at the final show in 1999 based upon the work of ATD Chat Zone members Dr Who and Kyle Bidlack who made an effort during the Atlanta show to distribute flyers asking the band to play the song. Upon reading the flyer, Waters gave the following speech (as recorded by Good Little Tyke and LotaSonata):
"I like, I like this candle note thing, it's good... We haven't rehearsed the new song, so we are not going to do it tonight... but there is a new song. There's a new song called "Each Small Candle," which may even be the title of the album I am going to make next year... the idea being that, heh (chuckles), am I going to go into this thing? Yeah, why not... fuck it. I suppose it will be about personal responsibility, the idea being that each small candle lights a corner of the dark, for what it's worth. Anyway, thank you for again for coming to listen to us... that uh, those magical connections that I have felt buried beneath the weight of numbers returned tonight thanks to you. So thank you, really, for coming and listening."
